What we do â
D.O.G.S. monitors N.H. legislation to ensure that it is in the best interests of both pets and their owners. We maintain two web sites:
- www.nhdogs.org â posts bill information, hearing notices, and bill analysis.
- www.nhpetsonline â is an educational web site for pet owners. It contains veterinary medicine news including drug recalls and the latest health research, news stories of interest to N.H. pet owners, animal husbandry information and is designed to be a resource for the average pet owner in New Hampshire. It is new and continually evolving.
How we contribute â
Our members, both individually and through their organizations:
- Contribute to dog and cat health research;
- Supply pet oxygen masks to N.H. Fire Departments;
- Fund scholarships for N.H. veterinary students;
- Visit nursing homes;
- Breed Rescue;
- Train service dogs
- Support our town Parks & Recreation Departments;
- Support Army dogs in Iraq and Afghanistan;
- Teach Obedience, Agility, etc. Classes;
- Hold Rabies and Microchip Clinics;
Annually, through their dog license fees, N.H. dog owners pay:- Over $ 300,000 to fund N.H.âs low cost spay and neuter program;
- Approximately $ 75,000 towards the N.H. Veterinary Diagnostic Lab;
- Between $ 600,000 and $ 975,000 to fund local animal control for all animals â not just dogs.
